ARMY Angler Bags Big Bass

Senior Maint Tech Terry Roberts

Army angler catches (and releases) gear busting giant bass!
Size.  I did not weigh it.  ( I did not have a scale to weigh it, and I did not want it to die so I took a couple of quick pictures and put him back in the (pond)

Lure: Wild Eyed Swim Shad (purchased from Walmart)

Structure:  Just off a flat

Rod:  (I do not know what type of rod it is)

Reel:  Zebco 33

Line: 8LB

Lake:  Hunters Pond  (not even 1acre pond)

Time: 0830

Weather: Sunny

Date:  04/15/2011

Tell us about your catch: I caught this monster bass in a small pond in my neighborhood.  I live in
Columbia and bought a Zebco rod and reel set just after moving into my house
two years ago.  I am not an avid fisherman but I thought I would enjoy
catching small fish out of the pond.  On the morning of 15 April I had been
fishing for about 45 minutes.  I was just getting ready to leave when I
thought I would cast one more time.  This monster bass hit my Wild eyed swim
shad.  It broke my rod and stripped the gears in my reel but somehow I managed to get it in.
