John Warren claimed the Snag Proof trio of Bobby’s Perfect, Bobby’s Perfect Buzz and the Phat Frog in the Bass Angler Magazine’s “Guess the Frog” contest.
Warren recently received his prize package and gave them a try on the California Delta. He sent in the picture of the 4.74 that he got using his new Tweety frog. He stated, “I caught one other small one at dark and my buddy had a few blow-ups on the white buzzfrog.” After his trip out with Tweety, Warren said, “I plan on keeping and using the Snag Proof frogs; but I think my partner laid claim to the buzz frog.”
The frog fish he caught this weekend rivaled his biggest Snag Proof frog fish which was just under 5-lbs and came from the Delta.
Beginning his fishing days as an infant, Warren’s first trip out was in the company of his parents as a 10-day-old baby, in pursuit of catfish. He fished his first tournaments as a teenager in the old Gridley Bass-Thrashers Club. He grew up fishing Oroville and Shasta; but stated, “I love the Delta, Clear Lake and Berryessa.
His shared that his PB came out of Berryessa and weighed in at 13.80. He claimed the double-digit, two years ago with one of his favorite techniques, the drop shot.
Warren didn’t compete in this year’s frog tournament; although, he hopes to next year.
The 2011 Snag Proof Open was won by the team of Dan Wells and Ron Howe. Prior to his win, Dan Wells gave frog fish tips in an article for BAM.
