Collegiate anglers throughout the country are preparing for Kentucky Lake and the 2012 Collegiate Bass Fishing Open, Presented by Pepsi. The Open will be the third and final stop of the 2012 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship Series. Although it is the last ACA event of the season, there are still plenty of opportunities for students to get out there and catch some bass before school starts back up.
We’ve put together a list of upcoming events to make sure you’re armed with everything you need to know to finish strong.
Collegiate Bass Fishing Open, Presented by Pepsi - June 22-24 – Kentucky Lake
This unique event features a true team format that allows teammates to share information and work together to amass the largest amount of weight possible over two days of competition. The winning team will be determined by the combined weight of each team’s two boats each day.
The event is open to all collegiate fishing teams recognized by their university, and there is no entry fee to participate. The Open will also be the last qualifying tournament for the 2012 ACA School of the Year Program, meaning winners of this inaugural program will be crowned at Paris Landing on Sunday, June 24 at the conclusion of the event. Georgia Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series – Championship – June 29-30th – Chickamauga
Georgia Southern has been hosting their own series of events in 2012 and the Championship is set for Lake Chickamauga. This TVA impoundment has been quietly kicking out monster bass the past few seasons. It has surprisingly remained off the radar of many bassers, but make no mistake, we could still see some monsters weighed in at this final stop. If you’ve fished three of the previous events, you’re eligible. If you’ve fished two, you’ve got a shot as well. Check out their website for more details.
2012 Northern College Series
Students from the University at Buffalo and Penn State have teamed up and put together our first “Northern” college series and they are visiting some great venues this summer.
2012 Midwest Collegiate Fishing Series
This is another new series of six events spread across the Midwest, each hosted by a different school. Two of the six events have taken place, but four remain and registrations are up online.

July 13-14 – Lake Dardanelle
The ATU Invitational is one of the longer running school-hosted events in the country. It makes its return to Lake Dardanelle July 13-14, 2012. This will be one of the first School of the Year sanctioned events for the 2013 race, so get your school off to a good start by joining ATU for this first-class event. Don’t forget, this one has an off-limits period for competitors, no fishing July 2nd through the 7th.

2012 South Texas Open
Interested in some cooler fall fishing, but a hot bite? Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Texas A&M Kingsville have joined up and created an event that is sure to be a big fish battle…Falcon Lake in the fall. The lake will be off-limits November 5th through the 8th, followed by official practice on the 9th, and competition on the 10th and 11th. This should be a great event.
