Hook On To a Floating Sisterhood at Pensacola’s Fishin’ Chix Rodeo

The sixth annual Fishin’ Chix Pink Rubber Boots Fishing Rodeo is leaving the dock on Pensacola Beach on June 2 for a day of bonding, friendship, sisterhood and fishing, of course. Can you imagine a better way to bond with girlfriends than to share time over a singing reel and a taut line along Pensacola’s beautiful emerald-green waters? We didn’t think so.

No experience? No boat? No problem. The Pensacola-based Fishin’ Chix, with members in 38 states, offers a one-of-a-kind turnkey adventure. For $350 per person, the Fishin’ Chix will place female anglers on charter boats with captains who are guaranteed to take you where the fish are. The entry fee includes price for the tournament entry, space aboard the boat, instructions, equipment, bait and an annual Fishin’ Chix membership. The more experienced fisherwomen – those who captain their own boats – can join in the fun for $200 per person, and Fishin’ Chix members with their own boats can participate for $150 per person.

Proceeds from the Pink Rubber Boots event will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. Prizes valued at more than $20,000 will go to the top contestants, including the top three anglers in each of seven categories, the top captain and the top three junior anglers. Additionally, the top three overall anglers will have the chance to compete in a ladies-only fishing rodeo in Ketchikan, Alaska.

The tournament leaves the dock from Flounder’s on Pensacola Beach at 6:30 a.m. on June 2 and goes from noon until 2 p.m., followed by an afternoon of fun and sisterhood at the awards ceremony. To register, visit www.fishinchix.com.

So, round up your girlfriends and visit the Pensacola Bay Area for a day of adventure on the water with the Fishin’ Chix. If you’re looking for fun to be had on land instead, you’ll find plenty of that here as well. There are cooking classes and museum visits to shopping and spa days or zip-lining to beachcombing, the Pensacola Bay Area offers an assortment of activities for friends looking to create lifetime memories.
