New Chapters Helping More Heroes
This week, we’re featuring three new HOW chapters that were formed in 2012 and already doing great things to serve wounded warriors in their area.
Northeast Florida Chapter Hooks Veterans
NorthEast Florida’s second event was even better than the first. Why? Six veterans were hooked on kayak fishing at the previous month’s event and returned for another day of camaraderie on the water along three new veterans and five family members. The day’s challenge was to fish Guana Lake from kayaks and there were some quality catches made.
A big thanks to a great group of volunteers and sponsors!
Maryland Chapter Launches Kayak Fishing Program
The HOW team in Maryland kicked off the program on 28-July at the Jonas Green Park on the mouth of the Severn River at the Chesapeake Bay. Three participants – a wounded Afghanistan veteran, a wounded firefighter and his spouse – experienced the benefits and challenges of fishing from kayaks. A second event is scheduled in September. Thanks to Tom Brown and the volunteers on his team!
Spruce Run Outing is the Fourth Event for the New Chapter in New Jersey
On 11-August, the New Jersey HOW chapter went kayak fishing at Spruce Run in Clinton Township. Several heroes enjoyed a day on the water with Matt Williams and his group of dedicated volunteers.
