Austin Peay State University claimed the day one lead with an impressive 26.41 pounds. Teammates, Chase Hunnell and Ethan Ingle explained that they caught about 15 keepers from two sweet spots on main river ledges using homemade football jigs and Berkley Power Worms tied to FireLine Fused Crystal line by 10:00 am.
This unique event features a true team format that allows teammates to share information and work together to amass the largest amount of weight possible over two days of competition. The winning team will be determined by the combined weight of each team’s top two boats each day.

After weighing in 17.07 pounds on day one, Sonar and Casey caught one of only six, five bass limits recorded on the final day. They added 10.85 pounds to their day one weight for a total of 27.92 pounds, giving the team a comfortable margin of victory.
Fishing fans throughout the nation will enjoy watching expanded television coverage of the 2011 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship Series when it airs this fall on Versus, now part of the NBC Sports Group.
Tournament organizers announced today that 191 teams representing 380 collegiate anglers are registered to compete in the 2011 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship.
